Project Goal:
To support all Mitsubishi MUT-II(JOBD)/MUT-III and Subaru SSM Protocol and Nissan datalogging protocol Models
Note: Only US DSMs/Eclipse and
US EVO8/9 support the universal standard OBDII datalogging tools. For japanese imports, other standard ISO9141 OBDII dataloggers will not work. EvoScan is what you need, because it uses the MUT-III factory dealership protocols. EvoScan still works with those US Models, although better and faster than the universal standard OBDII datalogging tools, since the Mitsubishi MUT-II(JOBD) Protocol runs 50% faster than ISO9141-2! By changing a setting in your ecu, you can make the datalogging run 400% faster than ISO9141-2! I am working on supporting more than just Mitsubishi Vehicles, it will become compatable with Subarus, and all other Vehicles, and will work with Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and Emissions testing protocols.

Using the alerting features of EvoScan could alert you to a bad tune or bad fuel, i.e Detonation Knock Counts, Temperatures, A/F ratios and potentially saving you your engine.

Your product is the 1st working scantool! ( I tried the ELM before, it was useless and slow )
It is logging a lot of important things.
Keep on doing the GOOD work, -Wijnand.

It is an awesome program I would be lost without it.
    Thank you, -Andy.

Thanks for an awesome program :)
    -Erik.

You are offering the software for 25 bucks when others charge hundreds. I have looked at the software and thats like the freegin deal of the century. I work for Worldspeed Motorsports, we are the west coast dealer for Pro Formula Mazda, Motec and many other things. I have also tuned with DSM link, motec etc. and basicly your selling something between dsm link and motec, for way less than $1500(like the autronic or aem systems), -Patrick.

WOW you answer my email so fast!!!!! impresive!!  thank you i love evoscan!!!
    -Antonio.

I've been using EvoScan for more than a year now and its the best tuning tool ever. I'm not a tuner and yet tuned my evo to 330whp and 327tq on 93 oct using your usb cable product combined with EcuFlash and a Wideband sensor.
    -Felo.

Supported Operating Systems: 64 bit Windows Supported: Yes.
    Windows 7 (all Editions)
    Windows XP (all Editions)
Windows Vista (all Editions) full control permissions needed to be added to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software, full control permissions needed to be added to the Evoscan installation folder.
    Windows Server 2003 (all Editions)
    Windows 98
    Windows 98 Second Edition
    Windows ME
    Windows NT 4.0 with SP6a
    Windows 2000

    Laptop Requirements:
EvoScan/EcuFlash/OpenPort 1.3U Requires installation of USB FTDI drivers (installed with ecuflash, or EvoScan will auto install them if no drivers found on logging)
Otherwise you'll get this message: FTD2XX.DLL missing
you can manually install the Evoscan USB drivers: from C:\program files\evoscan\EvoScan v2.6\USB Drivers\x86\DPinst.exe /i

ELM327 USB Cable Drivers and Software: Download Here

Requires installation of Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 (its not installed by default on WindowsXP, but it is installed by default in Windows Vista/Win7)
Otherwise you'll get this message: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)." - to fix install MS .NET Framework v2.0

Basically if the laptop can run Windows fine, then the EvoScan software will also run.

The EvoScan software runs really fast, even on 300Mhz machines.
To get maximum speed on EvoScan:
    - Disable Log To Screen, and Enable Logging Superspeed, run a power inverter in your car for your laptop to get full speed cpu from your laptop (Less effect is noticed on 2.0Ghz laptops with a/c power, but slower laptops or laptops running off the battery benefit a lot of speed with these settings)

    Troubleshooting Connection Issues:

Symptom: Ecuflash works, but EvoScan doesn't connect for datalogging.

Common Cause: EvoScan Datalogging requires very strict timing requirements to connect to the ECU datalogging system, whereas reflashing does not need specific timing requirements. Datalogging is very timer sensitive in the initialization phase.

Solution A: Most common cause is Power Saving Mode on EeePC laptops, and should be disabled.

Solution B: Another cause is that some laptops ecu's can not provide a stable timer, this is also noticable in some high end games that fail to work - well the same goes with EvoScan. here is the link that discusses the /UsePMTimer windows flag
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895980
More information on the /UsePMtimer flag

    Solution C:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896256
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager, point to New, and then click Key.
Type Throttle for the new key name. Right-click Throttle, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. Type
PerfEnablePackageIdle for the value name. Right-click PerfEnablePackageIdle, and then click Modify. In the Value data box, type 0.
Make sure that Hexadecimal is selected in the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, and then click OK. Note You can type 1 in the Value
data box to enable the new performance state policy behavior. Quit Registry Editor.

    Solution D:
Task Manager -> process -> right click (the evoscan process) -> processor Affinity
Then try untick one of the cpus.

Known EvoScan Issues as at EvoScan v2.7 beta4 18th Sept 2009: this list will be updated weekly, as they are considered highest priority.
OBDII 96+ datalogging doesn't seem to connect using openport 1.3u (only op 2.0 cable for this OBDII option, MUTII datalogging is still fine)
AYC/ABS Actuators for Evo7/8/9 don't seem to connect.
Evo1/2/3 seem to use a special ecu, and support is work in progress.
PLX wideband is work in progress.
Read / Clear DTC for EvoX is work in progress.
Request Eval Formulas used for CAN OBDII and EvoX (non mode23) datalogging formulas needsome reviewing(fixing/updating).

    Tips And Tricks - 13th November 2008:

    - Car PC Interface - use "Evoscan.exe /AutoStartDatalogger" to automatically begin logging on PC startup.
use "Evoscan.exe /?" to see more options, including auto load graphs, and gauge layouts.

    - EvoScan support helpdesk, you can log any discussions or requests at http://www.evoscan.org/helpdesk

    - Vista Support - Add Full Control Permissions for Users to c:\program Files (x86)\Evoscan\  to the Users group.
Also run regedit and add Full Control permissions for Users to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\  key.
This will help with other software that requires access too.
Vista & Windows7 fully supported by default using EvoScan v2.6

    - For USB cable drivers either download and install ecuflash or run DPInst.exe from
    C:\Program Files\EvoScan\EvoScan v2.6\USB Drivers\x86\
run from this location for 64bit OpenPort USB cable drivers
    C:\Program Files\EvoScan\EvoScan v2.6\USB Drivers\x64\

    How to identify Cable types:
    EvoScan OpenPort Cable Plug

    EvoScan Mitsubishi 1994-2006 Supported Vehicles:
MUTII is 16pin OBDII plug with pins 1/4/5/7/16
OBDII is 16pin OBDII plug with pins 4/5/7/16
2001+ MUT Reflashing has an additional 12pin plug next to the 16pin, this reflashing 12pin only has one pin in it.
(note some openport cables have 3 wires on the reflash 12plug, 2 wires go no where, are there just for strength, they are obviously functionally only using 1 wire too)

    EvoScan Mitsubishi 1989-1994 Supported Vehicles:
    MUTII is 12pin plug only

    Hybrid 95-99 DSM/3000GT/Eclipse (16Pin)
16pin OBDII plug with pins 4/5/7/16

EvoScan Subaru SSM-I 1989-1998 Supported Vehicles:
SSMI is 9pin plug with pins 2/3/5/9
SSMI is 16pin obdii style plug with pins 4/5/12/13

EvoScan Subaru SSM-II 1998-2006 Supported Vehicles:
SSMII is 16pin OBDII plug with pins 4/5/7/16

How to get Mitsubishi AYC/ABS support from an OpenPort 1.3U cable.
Step 1) Pin1 must be linked to pin15.
Early OpenPort cables did not have Pin15 linked to pin1(check with a multimeter continuity test) to see if its connected.
               a) No pin1 on the OpenPort cable. Move pin1 on the vehicle side to the pin15 position.
               b) Pin1 is connected to Pin4/5 on the OpenPort cable. Move pin1 on the vehicle side to the pin15 position.
               c) Pin1 is connected to Pin15  on the OpenPort cable. Cable is AYC/ABS ready.

Step 2) Try logging with EvoScan v2.6 or later. Select Mitsubishi, and select ECU to "AYC" or "ABS", Press start datalogger.
If it doesn't connect, then perhaps you have pin9 interference. Goto Step 3.

Step 3) Subaru 2002 vehicles use Pin 9 for reflash support on the openport 1.3Universal cables, but it interferes with the Mitsubishi AYC/ABS ecus on some
Mitsubishi obdII ports, so you can either break pin9 off the OpenPort Cable, or put a switch on pin9 from the obdII port.

    Notes:
Some Mitsubishi roms on the internet change a special "Init Code" inside the rom, which stop you from re-reflashing the ecu. just run up ECUunlocker in the background and you will then see ecuflash use the special additional Init code:

Modified Roms for use by professional tuners only:

    04evo8.hex
This was a 2004 Evo8 with Turbo Back Exhaust, Intake, Upper Hard pipe and boost controller.
the controller is set at 25psi, This map was run to 26psi. Above that you are on your own.
If your mods are different, I would recommend a wideband or adding a little fuel to start with and going from there.
The boost controller was via a Blitz Controller so I didn't modify the factory boost maps. That is also going to be up to you.
This one is quite safe and
    dyno: STOCK was 198HP 190TQ @ 22psi
    This flash was 252HP, 255TQ, @ 25psi

    evo8street.hex
This is a flash on a 2004 evo 8 with a long list of mods.
    It's very aggressive over stock.
It's also a 25 psi map. intake, exhaust, ported 02 housing, larger FMIC, manual boost controller,
Made 295HP and 305ftlbs on a mustang dyno.
Please be carefull. You can see the fuel is really pulled in a lot of areas. AFRs were in the mid 11's.
Not near as safe as the other map. A middle ground map would probably be a kick in the pants with a larger margin of safety.
again this was manual boost control. However, the boost maps are modified. They aren't tested. So please boost with care. Have fun.
